Deanna has been riding and showing horses for over 25 years. She has successfully shown "A" circuit in hunter/jumper/equitation shows on the East Coast. Deanna started in Hunters, then moved to Equitation and finally realized her love for Jumpers. She was top 10 in her division and competed in Nationals and eventually went to competing in Mini Prix and Grand Prix classes.
Deanna has gone from backing her students horses to them winning at the "A" circuit shows. Her success doesn't just come from winning at shows but from helping problem horses or riders work through their issues.
Deanna has children of her own and loves to teach all levels of riders, from beginners to the more serious show competitor.

Custom Horse’s
Complete Stretchy System: Designed and created by Linda Curtis
The stretchy system is
designed to encourage and teach your horse, not restrict, to come from behind. The gentle give
and take of the elastic allows the horse to use the correct muscles from the
hindquarters through to the poll. The
proper head carriage and balance are achieved willingly. With the impulsion coming from behind, the
horse steps underneath itself and lifts its forehand.
Unlike other systems on the market, this
entire system is one unit made of 1” heavy elastic and hardware, not rope or
bidding. It is totally adjustable to fit
your horse’s body type. There is a clear
flexible plastic tubing which rests above the hocks and then connects to the
bit with heavy clips. While lunging, this
system can be used with or without a saddle. The system allows for straightness and suppling
in either direction.
Please call for Linda at (540) 222-4516 for pricing.
Training sessions: 1/2 hour $25 plus $10/grounds fee with your horse at Magnolia Equestrian Center using the stretchy
system.
Simonie is a Fredericksburg native. She began her riding career at Hazelwild Farms at the age of five. She rode and competed locally and at the “A” circuit for several years before widening her knowledge of the horse industry by learning and competing in the western pleasure and barrel racing divisions in the Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia areas. In high-school she returned to her hunt-seat and equitation roots as a working student for Carol M. Hawley. There she learned the fundamentals of running a top-notch training/boarding/lesson facility and again showed locally and at the “A” circuit. Simonie is a graduate of the University of Mary Washington where she rode and competed on the equestrian team.
Simonie has experience and success backing and putting the fundamentals on young horses as well as maintaining horses for pleasure and competition. She has worked with clients in the buying, selling and leasing of horses. Her goal is to assist clients in finding the best equine match or find the best home for a client selling or leasing a horse. She understands the emotional attachment we all have to our equine counter-parts and wants to see the best outcome for all parties involved in a sale or lease.
She has taught riders of all ages on the fundamentals of strength, balance and communication between horse and rider. Additionally, her methods of teaching include the philosophy of “Form follows Function” meaning correct riding form is the foundation for improving your horse and achieving your riding goals! Her lessons include teaching riders about safety while riding and working on the ground. She also tailors her lessons to include knowledge about horse maintenance and tack care. She is currently accepting new students.
